In June 2023 they released their latest report: Integration of VR and MR as complementary tools in the curriculum’.
This report follows a prior research report Selection of Technologies related to AR, VR and MR – the goal of this report was to investigate suitable ‘Industry 4.0’ technologies to modernize their didactics. The task for the latest report was to investigate how to integrate these new tools into the curriculum.
The key details in this report were first, a comprehensive review of how AR and MR have been integrated into woodworking and furniture-making education so far. Second, the report looked at the learning outcomes that can be obtained by these technologies and how this relates to future job demands.
The conclusion was that there's an exciting future for introducing XR technologies to woodworking classrooms. For students, there's new potential to develop technical, design, teamwork and problem solving skills of students in a practical & engaging way. For teachers, there's an opportunity to innovate their didactics & effeciency in the classroom. In short, this represents a huge step forward for the industry
